For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
Team Athletics members are becoming an integral part of their communities. A large part of what we do is focused on serving the neighborhoods and areas around where our players live. It is an honor to give of our time and a tremendous blessing to those who benefit from these types of service projects.
Due to the tremendous outpouring of effort and giving, our Team Athletics players contributed more than 2000 community-service hours. As a result, we were awarded the Gold President's Volunteer Service Award. We plan to continue our efforts in the community to honor this prestigious award in the years to come.
Team Athletics has adopted two local area parks: Rheudasil Park in Flower Mound and Andy Brown Park Central in Coppell. Beautification efforts continue monthly at both parks.
Meals on Wheels
Our teams have been privileged to participate in the Meals on Wheels program in Dallas. To date we have delivered more than 1000 meals. At our annual Holiday Day of Caring event this last December we collected and delivered over 250 blankets to needy individuals in the community.
Toys for Tots
Both in 2009 and 2010, Team Athletics worked with the United States Marines on their annual Toys for Tots toy drive. Our boys worked diligently to help collect over 5,000 toys and $14,500 for this very worthy cause. This collection effort has been able to help provide toys to more than 6,000 children at Christmas in the DFW area.
Backpacks to India
This year we are expanding our reach with the generous giving spirit of our Team Athletics family by delivering back packs to school children in Mumbai, India. On March 1, 2011, more than 50 back packs were delivered to a Christian School in the heart of one of India’s largest cities. As one of our 16U boys put it, “Wow-we get to help those in need in our own community and now we get to share and give to those half way around the world-that is awesome!"
