Craig Frydendall

Craig, an Elkhart, Kansas, native, played two years at Cowley County Community College and both years the team qualified for the Junior College World Series in 2001 and 2002. Frydendall was then drafted in the 19th round of the 2001 MLB Draft by the Texas Rangers. He was in the Rangers’ minor league system for three seasons, compiling an 8-6 record in 52 appearances as both as a starter and reliever. In 2005 and 2006, he played in the Independent Golden Baseball League. In 2005, he played for the Surprise Fighting Falcons for former major league player Ozzie Virgil. Then in 2006, he played for former Cardinal and Padre shortstop Garry Templeton for the Fullerton Flyers. Starting in the Fall of 2007, he began his coaching career as the Pitching Coach at Neosho County Community College in Kansas. Following the 2009 season, he took over as the Pitching Coach at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas. Frydendall’s first season at Hutchinson was a special one. The Blue Dragons won the program’s third Region VI championship and finished third at the Junior College World Series. He completed his degree in Integrated Studies at Emporia State University in 2007. Frydendall was a Kansas class 2-1A all-state performer at Elkhart High School, where he graduated in 2000. He and his wife, Jennilee, have two children: Peyton (7), Ellie (4).
