At what age should my child begin sessions with a private instructor?
This varies according to the interest level and attention span of your child. However, our experience has been that a child 8 years old and older had the ability to stay focused long enough to begin individual training sessions.
How often should we bring our child in for sessions?
Again, this is a function of focus and interest level. It also has to do with age. Some of our younger players will come less often than our pre-teen and high school players. The primary reason is that older players are in leagues where they need to perform at a higher level in front of college coaches and scouts and thus need more "fine tuning". If your child is just beginning to learn not only baseball, but athletic movement in general, we will need to see them less often, usually once a week. At younger ages, we can prescribe fundamental athletic drills to do outside of our session that either you, the parent, or the coach can oversee.
Ultimately, all of our coaches are professional and experienced or they would not be a part of Pro Source Athletics. So your decision should be pretty easy!
However, occasionally a coach will be unable to take on a new student or simply not have time available in your desired time slot. If this is the case, we will find you another coach who fits your criteria.
What is the best time of year for individual sessions?
Our sessions can be held year round. Most of the work takes part in the winter months but it is important to remember that these sessions are not designed to stress the body but to enhance it’s ability to learn how to use itself more efficiently. Therefore a child can play a full season and then put in a number of months of work in the off season without wearing the body down.
You can hire us during the season as well. You can even hire us to work with your entire team should that be your desire.
Can parents participate?
Parents are encouraged to sit in on all sessions and take notes and ask questions. This is your chance to become as involved as possible. We do ask, however, that you do not instruct your child – that is what you pay us for!
